Tree Care Tips

Caring for your FirEver Christmas Tree
A FirEver Christmas tree is alive and needs water to stay happy — the number one secret to a thriving tree! All trees come with a saucer to catch water and prevent spills, plus a coconut fibre coir disc on top of the soil to help retain moisture. You can water through the disc, but lift it occasionally to make sure water reaches the roots and water in a full circle around the tree.
Watering is simple: do the finger test — dig your finger into the soil. If it comes up dirty, the tree’s fine. If it comes up dry, it’s time for a BIG drink. For small trees, 1 cup every day or two is usually enough; bigger trees need 2–4 cups daily. If there’s water left in the saucer from the previous day, skip watering until tomorrow.
We shape and trim our trees throughout the year and before they leave the nursery if needed. If you plan to return your tree, please do not trim it yourself. Fairy lights and baubles are fine, but avoid tinsel, as it can damage needles and cause browning.
After Christmas, help your tree transition back outside by keeping it out of direct summer sun. A shady or protected spot is best to avoid shock or sunburn. Continue to water every other day until it’s returned to the nursery. If you plan to keep your tree, place it in a partially shaded area (morning sun is fine) and avoid harsh Australian summer sun to give it the best chance for 4 weeks then full sun is fine.
When your tree returns to the nursery, we tag it with your name and contact info and get in touch in mid-November to arrange delivery back to you if you choose to rent again.
